The Dark Eyes of Unhealthy Obsessions

godseye2016a

There has been a lot of interest in playing video games on cell phones and other mobile devices in recent years. One of the most recent gaming obsessions is Pokemon Go. People go to public places and linger for hours staring at their cell phones as they play the game. Some people get completely obsessed with playing it, much like people get obsessed any addiction. It would consume all their free time and money.

These obsessions can become addictions that control people’s lives if they don’t keep their behavior in check. I’ve seen these addictions come from video games, Internet chatting, and even hobbies and leisure activities, like motorcycling.

The addictions can destroy a person’s life just like chemical addictions to alcohol or drugs. If we allow these material things to control our lives, our spiritual eyes quickly dim and we can be in danger of becoming blind to things that are much more important, such as spending time with people and doing activities that bare worthwhile fruits.

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” (Matthew 6:22-23)

God demonstrated these concepts to a teen who was spending too much time playing video games, like Pokemon Go. The photo above shows a “God’s Eye” he made during a summer camp. I noted how he had the green and blue yarn inside and the black yarn covered almost everything. From symbolism I learned about God’s guidance, I knew green stood for Life and blue stood for the Holy Spirit or the Waters of God’s Spirit.

We are supposed to live by God’s Spirit (the blue yarn) and walk by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-25), which is to live by God’s guidance for us, as well as, letting the Holy Spirit in us control us. Doing so gives us Life (the green yarn) instead of death because then we will conduct our lives towards righteousness instead of sin. It brings blessings instead of curses.

However, when our eyes become dark we become blind to doing what is right (the black yarn) and will walk life by the flesh and in sin, which brings death, because the things God wants us to do and understand are blocked by the darkness in our eyes (the black yarn).

When I told the teen how his God’s Eye reflected his attitudes and priorities and that it was God’s way of telling him to change his dark eyes, he was dumbfounded, even scared that God could control him and speak in such a way.

But I’ve seen the Lord speak in ways like this before – controlling works, like art and music and especially Scripture, in detailed ways to speak a message. If the world would see how dark their eyes have become, how much more bright life would we enjoy.

Yom Kippur 2016 – Day of Atonement

yomkippur2016a3rdcompassdotorg

Wonderful Yom Kippur! (Day Of Atonement)

Remember and honor God’s atonement for our sins by His blood and New Covenant in Christ Jesus/HaMashiach Yahushua. Confess and ask God’s forgiveness for your sins today, in general and specifically. Being specific is best. God said if we confess our sins He will forgive (1 John 1:9), so don’t keep them private thinking it doesn’t matter. It matters to God. Remember, too, it is only through the New Covenant of Grace in Jesus/Yahushua that our sins are guaranteed to be wiped away by a simple acknowledgment of faith, so confess your belief in Christ/HaMashiach to someone. There is no more need to go through high priests or make animal sacrifices like the Jews must do under the Law of Moses.

Divination, Idolatry and the Curse of False Gospels

I just recorded a new teaching about how divination, idolatry, spiritualism and false beliefs can bring spiritual blindness. This blindness is related to the curse of false gospels mentioned in Galatians 1:8-9.

Yom Teruah – Trumpets – Rosh Hashanah 2016

yomteruah2016a3rdcompassdotorg

Blow your shofars and give shouts on this holiday! Rosh Hashanah means “Head Of The Year” but God defined this holiday as the Day Of Trumpets or Shouting from the Hebrew Teruah meaning to make a loud noise or shout, typically with a shofar or trumpet (Leviticus 23:23-25; Numbers 29:1).

Shofar blasts are used to establish and affirm, like the soundings made to announce a new king (1 Kings 1:39). With these things in mind, Yom Teruah is not meant to just be a new year, but actually the Head of a New Age – to establish Jesus Christ’s reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. So give trumpet blasts with shouts of Hurrah for God’s Kingdom and our Lord as King Eternal.

Hallelujah Adonai Yahushua! Hallelujah Lord Jesus!

“With trumpets and the sound of the shofar shout for joy before the King, Adonai!” (Psalm 98:6 CJB)

Strife and Blasphemy

StrifeBlasphemy2016a3rdCompassDOTorg

Respect the Lord’s servants. Leave behind strife and anger. Arguing is not the Lord’s way (2 Timothy 2:14, Titus 2:1-9,3:9-10; James 5:9; 1 Peter 3:8-12). There is too much fighting in the church and brethren go so far as to call each other devils and the like. But anyone who comes in the Name of Jesus Christ should be respected. Do not call each other devils or claim others are of the enemy. You risk blaspheming the Holy Spirit, a sin God does not forgive, even though Christ’s blood atones all sin (Matthew 12:24-32; Mark 3:22-30; Luke 11:15,12:10; 1 John 1:7).

How do you know someone is not acting and speaking by the Spirit? You may simply not understand things, just as the Jews did not understand Jesus or His servants. There is much the church disagrees on, but we must exercise discipline and respect for each other. Do not assume you or the church knows everything correctly, but be willing to give up erroneous viewpoints and examine things very, very closely (1 Thessalonians 5:19-21).

Excess of Pride

Pride2016a3rdCompassDOTorg

Excess of pride brought our nations low. More rebuilding through pride will not bring prosperity. Campaigns that showcase making our nations strong again and rebuilding national pride have missed why they’ve come to this point.

They’ve turned their backs on God and what is right. God makes nations great, but He will bring them down if they do not come to what is right after straying. The United States, especially, has been given wake-up calls through 9-11 and financial upheavals, yet instead of humbly seeking to make things right with God, nations continue to stand proud in their own logic, strength and promises – they simply continue oblivious to what will guarantee permanent healing and prosperity. The only way back to blessing and promise is through God. May it be in Christ Jesus. Amen.
